The Secret Service

The first video is Dorothy Love Coates of Gospel Harmonettes fame, the second is the Davis Sisters. This last video is of a woman called Marion Williams. I have a link with her through an amazing woman in Hackney who was good friends with her in the 60s and even went over to philly with her to sing in her church. Years ago she gave Marion Williams and many others a bed, friendship, some food and some sanctuary when they needed it most.. London could be a racist and rough place for a musician then. Still can be now I guess. Not so long ago when I had no place to stay she did the same for me and let me stay for a while. And last time I was round her house she pulled me out an old marion record: with a really touching hand written enscription to her. I'll no doubt tell you more about her another time.
